Can I visit the Museum before I bring my group?

We strongly recommend that you organise a visit to the Museum in advance of your trip to familiarise yourself with the venue and discuss your requirements with our team. Visits are free for members of staff that will be accompanying the group on the day. Normal admission charges apply for family members or guests. Contact the Education Team to book.

How should I prepare my pupils/students for their visit?

It may be helpful to run through the following points with your students prior to their visit. The Tank Museum has large vehicles on display in our galleries. Please make pupils aware that running in the Museum or climbing on the vehicles could lead to serious injury.

The Museum is also a memorial to the soldiers of the Royal Armoured Corps. Please have a discussion with your pupils about the appropriate way to behave in a memorial site and how their behaviour might affect other visitors in a positive or negative way. We have many visitors who have a personal connection to the Army or have been in the armed forces themselves, for example veterans of the Second World War.

How do we get to the Museum?

Please find directions here.

Where do coaches park?

See map here.

How long should I allow for a visit?

A typical group usually arrives at 10:00 and leaves at 14:00 to allow time to explore the Museum as a ‘self-guided’ group before or after your workshop. We will work with you to create a timetable for your visit. However, we are flexible to your requirements if you require a different arrival and departure time. The Museum is open from 10:00 and closes at 17:00.

The Museum has a large space available to eat packed lunches. There is a restaurant on site if you wish to purchase lunch, if this is the case please make the Education Team aware at the time of booking. There are lots of toilets including wheelchair accessible facilities.

There is space to store coats and bags in the Museum away from the general public but we cannot guarantee that it will be secured, therefore we recommend that valuables are not left in the area.

Is there a shop?
