TANKFEST SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED

The Tank Museum is pleased to announce the first four speakers for the new TANKFEST Lecture Stage.

Lt Col Dick Taylor, Lt Col Jim Howard, author Tim Strickland and Maj Gen Patrick Cordingley will all be speaking at TANKEST 2021.

The Lecture Stage, situated behind the Museum’s Workshop, will feature historians, tankies and other military aficionados, speaking about their areas of expertise in a jam-packed programme across the four days.

TANKFEST tickets will be available for purchase from 1 May.

Lieutenant Colonel Dick Taylor – Friday & Sunday

Former tank commander and official Royal Armoured Corps historian, Dick Taylor, will be covering the mechanisation of the cavalry 1922-41 and the Victoria Cross on Friday, and the role of food in WWII and the Universal Tank debate on Sunday. He will also be conducting book signings on both days.

Lieutenant Colonel James (Jim) Howard – Friday

Lt Col Jim Howard (former commanding officer of the Royal Tank Regiment) will be pulling on his extensive experience of combat to discuss the oft asked question – what is the future of the tank?

Tim Strickland MBE MA FSA – Saturday & Monday

Author Tim Strickland will be talking about his latest book – Strick, Tank Hero of Arras – which covers his father’s early life and experiences during the Second World War, where he served in France, North Africa and Italy.

Major General Patrick Cordingley DSO OBE DSc FRGS – Friday & Sunday

Cordingley, who commanded the Desert Rats during the Gulf War and became commander of the 2nd Division in 1995, will be discussing the 30th anniversary of Operation Granby.
