His Majesty The King Visits The Tank Museum

The Tank Museum was honoured to host His Majesty King Charles III during the Royal Tank Regiment Families Day.

The King, who took over the role of Colonel-in-Chief of the RTR in 2023, arrived at The Tank Museum in a 1920 Rolls-Royce Armoured Car.

The late Queen arrived in the same vehicle when visiting The Tank Museum in 1997 when marking the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Cambrai.

After disembarking the Rolls-Royce, The King headed into visit the Museum’s flagship Tank Story Hall to meet Museum staff.

Outside the front of the Museum, The King was presented with the regimental standard before presenting medals to service personnel as their families watched.

He went on to view the Challenger 3 tank, the British Army’s latest MBT – before taking the commander’s seat in a Challenger 2 and enjoying a ride as the audience looked on.

The Tank Museum is the official museum of the Royal Tank Regiment, and was recently awarded the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award.
