Venue hire

Hospitality in a unique setting – The Tank Museum provides facilities for meetings, conferences and other special events.

With a variety of facilities available for hire both during office hours and into the evening, the Museum’s dedicated Events Team will be delighted to help you make the most of this historic and inspiring venue to ensure your event is unforgettable.

Whether you are looking for a conference centre for a corporate event, or a stunning venue for a black-tie dinner, we are happy to discuss your requirements to help you design the perfect event.

The Cold War Hall is one of the Museum’s five halls and is used to hold larger events ranging from lectures and black tie award ceremonies to dinner dances and concerts.

It is a multi-function hall complete with a café and bar that can be used as part of your function. It is also available for trade shows and private events.

Surrounded by a collection of Cold War tanks situated next to the Battlegroup Afghanistan exhibition and with large windows that overlook the neighbouring military base, your guests will be positioned ‘in the thick of it’.

The WWII-themed Briefing Room will give atmosphere to any event. It can accommodate a variety of purposes, from corporate meetings and conferences, to dinners and lectures.

Decorated with objects, maps, and diagrams from the Archive & Supporting Collection, the Briefing Room has been recently revitalised to reflect the Museum’s historic collection.

The Briefing Room includes a PC with MS Office, free Wi-Fi Internet access, DVD player, lapel microphone and sound system, as well as an overhead digital projector (compatible with personal laptops). An audio loop is available upon request.

It is set back from public access, with its own private toilets. Capacity is up to 90 people.

The Tank Museum boasts a spacious balcony overlooking both the Museum’s major exhibition The Tank Story and a sweeping panorama of the Purbeck Hills on the other.

This is a bright and airy space; ideal for private parties, breakfasts, corporate lunches and drinks receptions and presentations.

The Display Hall Balcony also provides a grandstand view of our tank arena.

The Museum’s spacious outdoor areas have been used for sporting events, motorcycle displays, concerts and more.

For displays and concerts, the Kuwait Arena is the perfect location to showcase your event to a large audience. It holds up to 6,300 people and comes with a PA system.

The Museum’s fields and tarmacked areas can be hired separately or as a whole, and includes running water, free parking and power.

Alabaré Homes for Veterans was delighted to bring its flagship event, The BIG Sleep, to the Tank Museum to raise the profile of the charity’s work with homeless and vulnerable veterans, and raise much needed funds.  We were so impressed with the team that enabled us to deliver the event, with their knowledge and passion for the museum, and openness to help us make it as impactful as possible.  Our participants were just delighted with the event, and the space we were allowed to use, and we hope to grow this in partnership with the Tank Museum over the years.

Alabaré Christian Care & Support

I have used The Tank Museum conference facilities on a number of occasions now and it has to be one of the best in the UK. Prior to my recent course, myself and a few delegates had reservations about COVID-19 control, however any concerns were ‘short-lived’. Measures included a thorough safety brief, daily temperature checks, the provision of sanitiser & alcohol wipes and more than a suitable layout to ensure that social distancing was maintained throughout the course.

Returning to The Tank Museum for this year’s Dorset Tourism Awards was a real delight – the ‘can do’ attitude of the staff there, coupled with the ‘wow’ of the location and exhibits made this a very special night.  We look forward to returning soon.
