A10 Cruiser

Back to search results
The A10 Cruiser Tank helped define Britain’s early-war armoured doctrine, combining increased protection with the speed expected of a cruiser tank.

The A10 Cruiser Tank was a better protected, but slower, counterpart to the A9. They shared the same automotive components and gun. Both were considered interim models until better Cruisers could be introduced.

The Tank Museum’s A10 Cruiser

Our particular vehicle is T9261, one of 30 Close Support A10s, which used the 3.7ā€ howitzer instead of the 2 pounder gun. The howitzer was used to fire smoke shells to mask the movement of other tanks. T9261 spent its service life at the School of Tank Technology before coming to The Tank Museum in 1949.
