Surprise Christmas hit for The Tank Museum

Tank-themed Christmas jumpers have proved a surprise festive hit for The Tank Museum.

Over £50,000 has been raised from the sale of seasonal jumpers for the Museum in the two years since they were first launched.

The tank-themed festive sweaters have proved particularly popular with men, with orders being shipped to tank fans from all over Europe, the United States, Canada, and as far away as Japan and Australia.

Simon Prager, Head of Commercial Operations, “Novelty Christmas jumpers have seen a resurgence in recent years, so in 2018 we decided to launch a Tank Museum jumper to help raise funds for the Museum.

“The first jumper was so successful that since then we have released multiple designs every season, with sales growing exponentially each year.” The Museum’s in-house Graphics team has designed a variety of Christmas knitted jumpers and sweaters, for both adults and children.

The creations include iconic Second World War tanks, like the Sherman, Churchill and Tiger, surrounded by festive motifs. Following the success of Christmas jumpers, the Museum has now branched out into a range of Christmas products, including scarfs, Christmas cards, baubles, mugs and slippers.

Currently closed, due to COVID restrictions, all proceeds from the shop sales will go to support The Tank Museum’s historic collection.
