We are delighted to announce The Tank Museum has received Archive Service Accreditation, an industry standard of excellence.
Archive & Supporting Collections Manager, Marjolijn Verbrugge, said: “Archive material is at the heart of the Museum’s storytelling, being used for exhibitions, online content, our workshop team and publications.
“Being awarded Archive Accreditation for the first time is a significant achievement for the Museum and supports the ongoing development of our service against a nationally agreed standard.”
The Archive is not only used by the Museum itself. Every year over 1,300 members of the public use the archive for research including family history, study, publication research, model making and much more. This important resource also aids the Royal Tank Regiment, the Royal Armoured Corps and the wider MOD.
An exciting new project for the Archive’s near future is the redevelopment of our Archive & Supporting Collections building, which will include an archive store extension. This is essential in continuing to store and conserve the over 1,700 linear metres of documents, photographs, slides, negatives, technical drawings and film.
