Thank You to The National Lottery!

Our partnership with The National Lottery Heritage Fund has been transformational in unlocking the potential of The Tank Museum.

This year The National Lottery celebrates its 30th birthday, and we’re delighted to join our fellow beneficiaries in celebrating this milestone. Since the first draw in 1994, The National Lottery has raised over £49 billion, bringing positive change to communities through over 690,000 individual grants.

In 2007, the first major redevelopment since the foundation of The Tank Museum was made possible by a Heritage Lottery Fund grant of £9.3 million. This transformed the collections care for over 300 armoured fighting vehicles and enabled significant improvements to visitor experience which resulted in a doubling of visitor numbers.

Further grants between 2013 and 2021, totalling over £5 million, supported continued collections care improvements, sustained the ongoing exhibitions programme and helped improve our volunteer workforce and workshop apprenticeship programme.

We’d like to wish The National Lottery a very happy birthday and offer our heartfelt thanks for your support over the last 30 years, which has been an essential ingredient in preserving our collections and bringing them to life for our visitors.
