Celebrating The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

The Tank Museum at Bovington, Dorset would like to join everybody in sending our congratulations and very warm wishes to The Queen on the occasion of 70 years as head of the British Monarchy. The Queen has visited The Tank Museum in both 1997 and 2009, these photos are from her most recent visit on 11th June, 2009 when The Tank Museum was re-opened after redevelopment.

There are a series of celebratory events planned through 2022 happening all over the country and here are the main ones to join in with:

Platinum Jubilee Beacons
On Thurs 2nd June over 1,500 beacons will be lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories.

Service of Thanksgiving
On Friday 3rd June 3, a service of thanksgiving for the Queen’s reign will be held at St Paul’s Cathedral.

The Derby at Epsom Downs
On Saturday 4th June 4 the Queen and Royal Family will watch the horse races at Epsom Downs.

Platinum Party at the Palace
On Saturday 4th June, a special live concert of the “world’s biggest entertainment stars” from Buckingham Palace will be broadcast.

The Big Jubilee Lunch
The Big Lunch event on Saturday 5th June everyone can easily get involved with as it is a community lunch encouraging neighbours to come together to celebrate with the Queen.

The Platinum Jubilee Pageant
With an eclectic mix of arts, artists, dancer and military personnel will tell the story of the Queen’s 70 years on the throne on Saturday 5th June in London.

The Platinum Pudding competition
A nationwide baking competition will create a brand new pudding dedicated to the Queen.
