Our October half term offer shines a light on the lesser-known stories of the role of women in war with hands-on activities, talks, tours and trails, 25 October – 2 November.
This half term, we’re celebrating the role of ‘Women in Warfare’, with family activities exploring all the roles women have taken in war from WWI to the modern day.
Education Manager Nicola Burgess said:
“It is important to us to highlight the untold and overlooked stories, and we’re delighted to be offering an exciting programme for visitors of all ages celebrating the role of women in war.
“Join our trail to follow the path of brave women who joined the fight, from factory workers and nurses to pilots and soldiers. Hear the stories of women in service and bring these fearless women to life at our colouring station – plus much more!”
As part of this programme, on 29 October renowned author Dr Vivien Newman will be giving a talk on the vital role women played in both world wars.
Visitors to the Museum will also be able to explore the powerful interactive exhibitions and discover the world’s finest collection of military vehicles. Plus, there’s plenty to keep little ones busy, including soft-play and dressing up.

The Tank Museum’s ‘Women in Warfare’ programme runs over October half term, 25 October – 2 November 2025, with activities and talks included in your general entry ticket.
