October Half Term: Tanks On Film26 October - 3 November 2024

Impressive collection The Tank Museum is one of the largest collections of millitary vehicles in the world. This museum is one of the best that I have visited, and every time I travel to Dorset, I need to visit it. Home to the only running Tiger I and some of the earliest WW1 Tanks, this muesum is one for the bucket list of any millitary enthusiast.

Do not miss it Went on two different days. One on Tiger Day to see the displays. Excellent collection, friendly and helpful staff (in fact enthusiastic!) and plenty to do. Highly recommended. Take a big memory card for your camera! Food in the restaurant is good quality, too.

Put a big smile on my face I've always wanted to drive these beasts and for a special birthday, got a chance with my family. They're very inclusive with everyone including the spectators. Absolutely great day.

You'll be blown away with exactly how much there is to see here!! Words cannot explain how amazing this museum is! A massive display of tanks and the complete history from the beginning! So much to see that we literally spent the entire day here. We even managed to see the exhibition hall which is a spectacle in itself! A truly magnificent place to visit if you love tanks and history. Tickets valid all year round too. Thank you for an amazing experience.

After Frequent Visits, Never Gets Boring I've visited the Tank Museum several times over the past few years as it has become a go-to option when looking for somewhere to take my son for the day. I thought it was about time I updated my review from a couple of years ago as quite a bit has changed in that time. Thankfully one thing that hasn't changed is how much we enjoy our trips.

Firstly, parking is also easy and plentiful even if it means using the overflow areas. The two new large play area tanks just outside are great and burn off some energy when first getting out of the car. To be honest, my son would quite happily have played on there with the other children and not done anything else!

Once inside, though, we really enjoyed how interactive the museum was. There is plenty for children to do and with our visit being in the summer holidays, there were displays out in the arena which we enjoyed. Little touches like some colouring by the soft play and the tank building area really keep the kids engaged. There is also plenty to keep the adults interested, too, so it really is a great place for the whole family.

The different zones make it really easy to navigate and also to prioritise what you want to see most. I should also say, I don't have a particular interest in tanks but I don't think you need to if bringing children here. There is plenty for them, and you, to do that it just makes for a really nice day out. The fact your ticket gets you annual membership is a huge bonus, too, and a big part of the reason we have been as many times as we have.

One of my favourite places to visit with my son, we can spend hours there and that's without even stopping to read anything for very long. I'm sure we will be back soon.

A must visit if you are interested in military history or military vehicles. First time I visited was in the mid-1970’s and it’s grown massively since then, with I believe over 300 vehicles although they simply cannot display them all.
It’s very well laid out and interesting. They cover all theatres of war from the first WW1 tanks to current day. The information boards are excellent, plus there is interactive section and areas for the main conflicts.
All the staff and volunteers I spoke to were helpful and pleasant. Had an interesting talk from Stephen on early British WW2 tanks, and a later conversation about my father’s service in WW2. He was well informed and knowledgeable - thank you!
There’s a lot to see and take in, so just as well the ticket is valid for a year.

A great day out! A great place to visit on a wet day, there's so much to see and all inside! It's very well presented and lots of info to digest. Cafe as well as a bigger restaurant. You can revisit in a year. Thorough recommended.

Lovely Museum Collections of different era of tanks, from first tank, WWI, WWIi, Cold War, and others. You knew how and why those tanks were developed and used in these wars. It was amazing and very informative. You may spend at least 3 hours there and don’t miss the show.

A great interactive learning experience for all ages, or just 'time to remember'! Went with three young grandson's who throughly enjoyed & immersed themselves in the whole experience.
Great range of tanks & vehicles to look at, interactive experiences, historic videos, 'dress up' area's, quizzes. Lots of toilets!
Plenty of seating in all areas so you can sit and take in the vast amount of information provided over the several halls.
Particularly liked 'The Trenches'. Difficult to explain this to a youngster, so this area was particularly good.
The museum has gone to extreme lengths to be respectful to those who served & died, yet give an imotive experience to the adults who remember & children who should know how many died for their tomorrow. Congratulations, it was amazing.
