We are delighted to announce the first of the speakers that will be joining the TANKFEST 2024 lecture stage.
Bruce Crompton – Military Collector & TV Star
Bruce is one of the world’s biggest collectors of 20th Century military equipment and TV star of Combat Dealers. Bruce will be joined by author Andrew May in a talk that explores the DD Sherman. Due to ill heath, sadly Bruce Crompton will not be speaking at TANKFEST 2024.
Andrew May – Author
Andrew is the author of the book DD Sherman Tank Warriors and will join Bruce Crompton in a talk that explores the assault on Sword Beach at Lion-sur-Mer by the 13th and 18th Royal Hussars in the DD Sherman tanks.
Lance Geiger – The History Guy
YouTube star Lance Geiger, known as the History Guy to over a million subscribers on his leading YouTube channel, will tell dramatic stories of armoured vehicles that were stolen in battle and taken where they do not belong.
Matthew Whitchurch – Lt Col Royal Engineers
Matthew ‘Sticky’ Whitchurch will share his 37 years experience of leading armoured vehicles on the battlefield for the Army and NATO, and discuss his compelling study of battlefields in the Baltics and Ukraine.
Simon Jones – Brickmania
Simon will talk about inspiring history with the military brick model community by building Brickmania models and the role model building can play in teaching history to future generations.
WO1 (SMI) Matt Vernon SASC
Matt joined the Army as a member of the Kings Own Border Regt in 2003, before transferring to the Small Arms School Corps (SASC) in 2011. Now in the role of Army Training Regt (Pirbright) SMI, Matt will look at how WW2 armoured vehicles continue to be used in modern conflict.
Lt Col Dick Taylor
Compere of TANKFEST 2024, Dick had a long service with the British Army as a former tank commander and tank gunnery specialist. Dick is also the official historian of the Royal Armoured Corps and published expert on the history of tanks.
