Help us raise £30,000 to plant 5,000 trees in Dorset by September 2026
We’ve partnered with Forestry England to support the restoration of an ancient woodland site at Queen’s Copse in Wimborne, Dorset – just 25 miles from the Museum.
With your support, this project will help return the woodland to its original character and ecological value, creating a resilient, biodiverse habitat that captures carbon, supports wildlife, and remains open for people to enjoy for generations to come.
For every £6 donated, we can cover the cost of planting a tree, including:
– The sapling
– The wooden stake, tree guard and any deer fencing required to stop the young trees being destroyed
– Up to 10 years of active management to ensure the tree is established and free of pests and diseases (ensuring that the tree is a genuinely long-term investment)
We don’t charge for parking – and the cost of a tree is less than what you’d spend on an all-day parking space in a beachside car park.
When you donate you’ll receive a confirmation email acknowledging your contribution to this important restoration project.
We’ll keep you updated on our progress towards the £30,000 target, and you can check here at any time to see how we’re getting on.
About Queen’s Copse
Queen’s Copse is a previous ancient woodland site currently dominated by non-native Western Hemlock trees. Forestry England is aiming to replace these with native broadleaves such as oak, hornbeam, and field maple, sourced from climate-matched seed or cuttings. These species have been selected not only for their ecological value, but also to restore natural character, enhance soil health, and build resilient wildlife populations.
Planting at Queen’s Copse will support Forestry England’s objectives to restore ancient woodland ecosystems, preserve rich soil quality and biodiversity, protect habitats for wildlife, and strengthening resilience to future climate conditions.
About Forestry England
Forestry England manages more land and trees than any other organisation in England across 1,500 sites. We provide hundreds of car parks, maintain thousands of miles of trails, and plant millions of trees.
We’re adapting our landscapes for tomorrow and getting stuff done today, like creating amazing places and experiences for you to enjoy. We’re providing vital homes for wildlife, making our air cleaner to breathe and producing sustainable timber.
We have to raise most of the money needed for this work ourselves, with less than 20% of our income coming from core government funding. As you can see, we’re doing a lot. And it’s thanks to your support.
So, whether you’re a dedicated wildlife spotter, an adrenaline seeker, a member, a first-time visitor or long-term business partner, join us in growing a better future.
