Sell-Out Event Stars Two Tigers!

Thousands of visitors got a special surprise last Saturday at Tiger Day Autumn when, for the first time in six years, the soon to be restored King Tiger V2 was put on display.

Tiger Day is usually all about Tiger 131 – the first of the infamous Tiger tanks to be captured during the Second World War. This year the limelight was shared with the King Tiger V2, which we recently announced we would restore to running order.

Head of Marketing and Engagement, Nik Wyness, said:

“King Tiger V2 is a unique vehicle. Not only is it the oldest King Tiger tank, it’s also the only one to survive with the pre-production turret. And, with thousands of people visiting us on Tiger Day, it was the perfect time to launch our King Tiger V2 restoration campaign.

“We need to raise over £1 million to fund this four-year project and, already, we’re delighted to announce that our supporters have donated over £60,000. We look forward to sharing regular updates with our supporters online.”

Highlights of the arena show included a recreation of the capture of Tiger 131, a Second World War tank display – which included fellow Hollywood film star Sherman ‘Fury’ – and the recently restored M3 Grant from the Bannister Historic Armour Collection.
