The Tank Museum is the regimental museum of the Royal Tank Regiment and the corps museum of the Royal Armoured Corps. The Tank Museum’s Trustees are vital in the running of the Museum and donate their time, resources and expertise to ensure The Tank Museum can fulfil its purpose to tell the story of tanks and the crews who served in them. Lieutenant General Sir William Rollo KCB CBE – Chairman
Lieutenant General Sir Bill Rollo was commissioned into the Blues and Royals in 1977. He served as a Troop and Squadron Leader with Chieftain and Challenger main battle tanks, and commanded the Household Cavalry Regiment (an Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment) in Bosnia, 4th Armoured Brigade in Kosovo, and Multinational Division (South East) in Iraq. His last appointments as a serving officer were as Adjutant General and as Deputy Chief of Defence Staff for Personnel and Training. He is a previous Director and Colonel Commandant of the Royal Armoured Corps.
Since leaving the Army he has served as a charity trustee and as a Commissioner for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, for the last four years as Vice Chairman. He was a trustee of The Tank Museum between 2000 – 2014. He became Chairman of The Tank Museum in September 2023.
Chris Price – Director
Chris Price was brought up in Birmingham and joined the Air Force at 18. After 10 years in the RAF, Chris left to work on heritage railways at the Talyllyn Railway, where he joined the Workshop Team and became the Workshop Supervisor.
A decade later, Chris began working at the Fairbourne Railway, gaining valuable experience of the challenges associated with running a client-driven attraction. After nine years, Chris became Estates Manager at the Workers Education Association, in North Wales, later becoming the Project Manager of a merger with the corresponding institution in South Wales.
Chris returned to Talyllyn as General Manager, then moved to manage the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. In January 2024, he joined The Tank Museum, excited to lead a dedicated team and enhance the Museum’s success.
He lives in Lytchett Matravers with his wife Alison, who is a nurse in Swanage. He has two adult children who both live in Bristol. His hobbies include motorcycling, and watching his football team.
Kate Adie CBE DL
Kate Adie presents the BBC’s long-running programme, From Our Own Correspondent and is the author of five best-selling books. She grew up in Sunderland, read Swedish at Newcastle University and started her broadcasting career in local radio in Durham, later becoming the BBC’s Chief News Correspondent.
In 1980, she reported live when the Iranian embassy was stormed by the SAS and has twice been named Reporter of the Year by the Royal Television Society. She won awards for her coverage of the US bombing of Tripoli and the brutal end to the Chinese students’ demonstration in Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
Kate presents factual documentaries on radio and television, has served as a trustee for the Imperial War Museum and has also judged the Whitbread, Orange and Costa literary prizes. She was awarded the OBE in 1993 and the CBE in 2018. Kate Joined the Board of Trustees in May 2017.
William Bannister
William Bannister is the CEO and Founding Partner of Motor Fuel Group (MFG), the UK’s largest forecourt convenience retailer with over 1,200 forecourts and convenience stores as well as supplying circa 200 independent businesses under its Murco brand.
In 2011, with his Executive Team, William led the acquisition of MFG for £50 million, expanding it to around 350 sites by 2015. In 2021, MFG launched a £400 million program for superfast EV charging hubs.
By 2023, MFG grew to nearly 900 sites and in 2024, MFG completed a £2.5bn transaction to acquire 337 Morrisons petrol forecourts and more than 350 acres of land across the UK for the expansion of its Ultra-Rapid electric vehicle charging development programme. The combined group now turns over circa £8 billion annually and serves in the region of 7 million customers a week across the UK.
William has over 30 years experience in property investment, asset management, and corporate rescue. William was the founding director of Scottish Capital Group. He first became a Trustee of The Tank Museum in 2013.
Nicholas Fernyhough BSc(Eng) FCA, CTA, DChA
Nicholas Fernyhough is a retired chartered accountant with 38 years of practice in London and the South Coast. Born in Beirut to Diplomatic Service parents, he spent his childhood in Lebanon, Nigeria, Chile, and Spain. He studied Chemical Engineering at University College London but shifted to Chartered Accountancy, joining Saffery Champness in London. He later became a partner in their Bournemouth office, eventually leading it through the Covid pandemic until his retirement.
Nick’s professional life was spent with a range of clients, including many substantial charities in the area, providing audit and advisory services. Nick acted as Treasurer for the Dorset Community Foundation for seven years.
Nick enjoys travel with his wife and three children. He has a keen interest in Napoleonic military history and visits battlefields from that era. He also enjoys golf, bowls, and attending sporting events. Nick became a Trustee of The Tank Museum in 2024.
Andrea Bishop
Andrea Bishop began her museum career in 1983 and joined the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu in 1990. She is now the Director of Collections & Engagement/Deputy CEO, working with a dedicated team.
Andrea contributed to the first SPECTRUM Museum Documentation Standard and Standards in the Museum Care of Larger and Working Objects in 1994. She served on the Veteran Car Club Dating Panel from 1994 to 2003 and supported Museum Development in Hampshire, Solent, and Berkshire from 2003 to 2024. A mentor for the Museums Association since 2004, she also mentored for museum accreditation from 2009 to 2019. She is Vice Chair of ABTEM and contributed to their 2018 Guidelines for the Care of Larger and Working Historic Objects. Since 2008, she has been part of the World Forum for Motor Museums Secretariat.
Andrea holds a Masters in Museum Studies from Leicester University and is a Fellow of the Museums Association. Andrea joined The Tank Museum’s Board of Trustees in March 2021.
Yunsun Choi
Yunsun has been working in the conservation and collections environment since 1996 and has held senior positions in a variety of museum, gallery, library and heritage organisations, such as The Wallace Collection, Senate House Library, University of London, British Library and the National Maritime Museum.
Yunsun is currently a Collection Consultant and advises and supports large and small organisations on issues related to collection and museum accreditation. Yunsun has a great interest in military history and a special interest in The Tank Museum because it has an active collection.
Yunsun joined The Tank Museum’s Board of Trustees in March 2021.
Scott Milne
Scott Milne graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1999 with a degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering and began his career with Vickers Defence Systems. He focused on the design, development, test, production, fielding, and support of Armoured Fighting Vehicles until 2005.
From 2005 to 2010, he led weapon system integration and turret design for BAE Systems. In 2010, Scott joined General Dynamics Land Systems–UK, working on the Ajax Programme and advancing to Chief Engineer and later Head of Engineering. In 2019, he became Programme lead for the Ajax demonstration and production phases and became Executive Programme Director in 2021.
In 2022, he became Vice President and General Manager for General Dynamics Land Systems–UK. Scott is an ex-rugby player and now competes in long distance triathlon events. He is married to Amy and has one son. Scott joined the Board of Trustees in June 2023.
Major General (Retd) Martin Rutledge CB OBE MA
Martin Rutledge joined the 9th/12th Royal Lancers in 1976. As a brigadier, he was head of the Royal Armoured Corps.
In 2012 he retired from the Army as a Major General and became Chief Executive of the now Army Benevolent Fund – the Army’s national charity. One of the ‘big 5’ service charities, he oversaw substantial grant programme for service personnel, their families, and individual charities. Annually fundraising up to £20 million each year, achieved through 600 events, some small and traditional, but others innovative £1 million projects.
Martin was a Trustee/Director of 8–10 other charities or organisations including a US charity and chairing the Finance & Investment committee of a major research endowment for 4 years.
Now fully retired, Martin lives near Blandford or in the French Alps when snow or fine summer weather beckons. Martin joined the Board of Trustees in December 2023.
William Suttie
William Suttie worked for the UK Ministry of Defence for over 40 years in the field of military vehicle and equipment research, development and procurement. Areas of work included future vehicle concepts, mobility systems, NBC detection and protection, signature management, engineer vehicle studies, minefield detection, combat identification, platform survivability and vehicle subsystem technology and integration. He completed a four-year tour as the scientific advisor to Director Land Equipment in the Defence Equipment and Support Agency and a 10-month tour supporting Head of Capability Ground Manoeuvre within Army HQ.
He retired from full time work in the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) in 2023 but continues to provide advice into MoD as a DSTL Alumni. He has an Honours degree in Automotive Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Military Vehicle Technology.
William joined the Board of Trustees in May 2017.
David Webb
David is an online media expert and is currently CEO and founder of Yarnhub Animation Studios, which produces historical animation films for several YouTube channels and streaming services.
Previously, David was founder of Timera Media, growing War History Online and The Vintage News to global audiences of millions of readers. Timera was taken to a successful exit in 2021. Prior to Timera Media, David held roles at Bonnier Digital and Intel Corporation.
David advises tech and media companies around the world on their online media strategy, how to implement agile teams and how to use international teams to rapidly scale.
David joined the Board of Trustees in May 2017.
Anthony Woodhouse
Anthony Woodhouse went into the City after graduating from Cambridge in 1987, working for Schroders in investment banking. He specialised in debt restructuring in the UK in the early 1990s, and in Asia in the late 1990s. He also spent 2 years in the Group Strategy Unit, before being made a Director in 1997 and Deputy Head of Group Credit. Anthony then resigned in 1999, disillusioned with the nature of the business and culture of greed.
Anthony worked full-time in the voluntary sector, establishing an Emmaus Community for the homeless in Bedfordshire and a Cricket Club for Juniors.
In 2000, Anthony became Non-Executive Director of Hall & Woodhouse. On the death of his brother, Anthony became Joint Managing Director of H&W in 2009 and sole Managing Director in 2010. He stepped up to Chair in May 2019.
Anthony is High Sheriff of Dorset for the shrieval year 2024-25. He joined the Board of Trustees in August 2018.
Colonel Matthew Wilkinson ADC
Colonel Matthew Wilkinson commissioned in 1998 and has served on a multitude of armoured platforms in the UK, Germany, Canada, the Balkans, Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan. He commanded a Challenger 2 Squadron with the King’s Royal Hussars and then the Royal Armoured Corps Training Regiment; overseeing the delivery of all RAC Trade Training and Mounted Close Combat Tactical Training, including the introduction of the first female officers and soldiers into the Combat Arms.
He was the programme manager of the Armoured Cavalry (Ajax) and Armour (Challenger 3) procurement programmes and from 2021-24 was the Army’s lead for lessons learned from operations and training – exhorting the Army to learn the new lessons from the conflict in Ukraine but also to re-learn a number of old ones…
He was appointed Colonel Royal Armoured Corps in July 2024 and very happily became a Trustee of The Tank Museum at the same time.
