The Tank Museum takes the safety and security of your personal data very seriously.

We greatly value the trust and confidence you place in us as customers, visitors, supporters, donors and website users.

If you use any of the services we offer, we will collect certain relevant information from you. This will be stored digitally and will only be accessible to those who require it in the provision of that service.

Our rigorous procedures and security measures will protect you against the loss or misuse of the information we have collected. We will only hold this information as long as it is needed to fulfil the service, following which it will be securely destroyed.

This policy sets out in more detail how we will meet our obligations to you under the 2018 General Data Protection Regulation.

In particular we want you to be aware that The Tank Museum will never sell your personal information for other companies or businesses to use for marketing.

YOUR RIGHTS

At any point while we are in possession of or processing your personal data, you, the data subject, have the following rights:

  • Right to object to automated processing, including profiling: You also have the right to be subject to the legal effects of automated processing or profiling.
  • Right to judicial review: In the event that The Tank Museum refuses your request under rights of access, we will provide you with a reason as to why.

OUR MAILING LIST

Your Email: If you register to receive our e-newsletter (or to ‘receive marketing’ as it may be worded elsewhere on our websites), we require an active personal email address so we can send you the information you have requested. If you subscribe via a pop-up or sign-up form, we will send you an email which will ask you to confirm your subscription. You must acknowledge this email in order to be added to our mailing list. Your email address may be used to target relevant advertising to you on Facebook and Google. You can opt out of this by emailing visit@tankmuseum.org

Our Service Provider: We use a third-party provider – MailerLite – to provide our e-newsletter services. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter and the content we link to. BUYING TICKETS & MEMBERSHIPS

If you purchase a general admission or special event ticket from our website, we will require your name, address and a valid email address.

Your Address: will be used to validate your payment method and, in the case of some ticket types, to contact you further by post with regard to your purchase. We may also use anonymised elements of this data (postcodes for example) for audience analysis and planning purposes.

Your Email Address: will primarily be used to send you your e-ticket, although we may contact you again by email with further information about your purchase or to ask for your feedback on our products and services. We will not add you to our e-newsletter mailing list unless you have opted in to receive it during your purchase or via the sign up form on our website.

Our Service Provider: Our online ticket fulfilment and payment system is provided by K3 Retail, and your data will be stored on our secure system provided by them for a maximum of seven years. To find out more, please see K3 Retail’s Privacy Policy here.

The Friends of The Tank Museum: If you join The Friends of The Tank Museum, your address and contact details will be stored on this same system for the duration of your membership. Your details are used to facilitate your membership and the fulfilment of our obligations to you as a member.

Gift Aid: If you consent to Gift Aid your ticket purchase, we are legally obliged by HMRC to retain your gift aid declaration for auditing purposes for up to seven years.

Protecting you: Your information will never be supplied to any other third party except where (1) such a transfer is a necessary part of the activities that we undertake (such as taking payment, arranging shipping or producing products to complete your order), or (2) we are required to do so by the operation of the law. In processing your order, we may send your details to, and also use information from credit reference agencies and fraud prevention agencies.

You can, of course, buy general admission tickets in person without supplying any of the aforementioned personal data.

COOKIES & OUR WEBSITES

What are Cookies? Cookies are text files placed on your computer to collect standard internet log information and visitor behaviour information. This information is used to track visitor use of the website and to compile statistical reports on website activity.

How do we use them?

Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to collect and process anonymised information to find about more about how our customers are using our website, in order to improve the experience for users. We do not make, nor allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

Google Ads: We use Google Ads’ remarketing and similar audience function, which show Tank Museum adverts on sites across the internet to website visitors or those who share characteristics with website users. Google does not sell your personal information to anyone – find out more here. Facebook Ads: Our website uses Facebook’s remarketing function, which allows users of the website to see interest-based advertisements when visiting the social network Facebook, Instagram or other websites that use Facebook advertising. Links to Third Party Websites: Our websites contain links to third party websites that we believe may be of interest to you. This includes links to our social media and online fundraising platforms. This privacy policy only governs our websites and we are not responsible for the privacy policies that govern third party websites – even where we have provided links to them. We recommend you read the privacy policy of that website before sharing any personal or financial data with them.

This website (“the Website”) is intended to enhance public access to The Tank Museum.

All text, images and multi media files on this website are protected by internationally recognised laws of copyright and intellectual property.

The Website contains intellectual property copyright materials and works belonging to The Tank Museum and others, from whom The Tank Museum have made all reasonable efforts to obtain full consent to publish their works and materials on the Website [and to permit their use as hereinafter specified].

Your right to access, use, print and download from The Tank Museum website is subject to your strict compliance with the terms and conditions as set out below:

TRADE MARKS

The trade marks (which include all logos and service marks) of the Museum and any third party displayed on the Website are the registered and unregistered trade marks of the same. Nothing contained in the Website shall be taken or construed as granting any licence or right to use the trade marks displayed on the Website without the prior written permission of the owner. Your misuse of any of the Museum’s trade marks is strictly prohibited.
