Visitors will have a final opportunity in 2026 to see some of The Tank Museum’s most iconic Second World War vehicles in action when they take to the arena during Tiger Day on 26 September.
Tiger Day at The Tank Museum is a day dedicated to the infamous Tiger 131 tank and showcases some of the Museum’s Allied and Axis armour.
Attracting over 4,500 eager visitors to see the world’s only running Tiger I, Tiger Day is held in September and April and is one of the Museum’s most popular events.
Tom Holmes, Partnerships and Events Development Manager, said: “Our September Tiger Day is shaping up to be a jam-packed day, with displays showcasing some of our most popular Second World War vehicles, including Sherman Fury and Matilda II, alongside Tiger 131.
“The only running Nashorn tank destroyer, brought to the Museum by the Nashorn Restoration Project, will be making an appearance in a mock Second World War tank battle alongside Tiger 131, Sherman ‘Fury’, Comet, and M24 Chaffee.”
Alongside live tank displays, visitors can also watch the process of recovering a Leopard 1 with a Leopard Bergepanzer, and an anti-tank display with the Garrison Artillery Volunteers.
Tom continued: “We’re so grateful to vehicle owners such as the Bannister Historic Armour Collection, and the Nashorn Restoration Project, who display their vehicles alongside ours to help us bring this popular event to life.”
Visitors can also enjoy expert talks, interactive exhibits, living history displays and opportunities to see historic military vehicles up close throughout the day.
