Tiger 131 is a truly unique vehicle. It was the first Tiger I to be captured by the western Allies in the Second World War and is the only surviving example that you can see in action. Tiger 131 only runs twice a year at the Museum’s Spring and Autumn Tiger Day events, which attract thousands of visitors from all over the world.

Head of Collections, Chris van Schaardenburgh said:

“The Museum Workshop team work hard to keep Tiger 131 running smoothly year-round.

“The engine underwent a major repair last summer, and with support from specialist engineers it was stripped, repaired, rebuilt and reinstalled in time for the sell-out Tiger Day Autumn event. Tiger 131 is raring to go for its next outing at Tiger Day Spring in April.”

Tiger 131 has another claim to fame, having starred in the 2013 film ‘Fury’ alongside Brad Pitt and the Museum’s Sherman M4A2 ‘Fury’. Visitors to Tiger Day Spring will be able to see the Sherman ‘Fury’ alongside other tanks in action, and a reconstruction of the capture of Tiger 131.
