100th Birthday Cake Competition

2022 Great British Bake Off Winner, Syabira Yusoff, hosted a baking competition at The Tank Museum last weekend, to celebrate the Museum’s 100th birthday.

Bake Off Star Syabira Yusoff judged over seventy delicious entries and met with visitors, who also took part in the Museum’s 100th birthday bash tank trail.

‘Best Tank Themed Cake’ winner was Wanda Armstrong-Ellis, ‘Best Novelty Cake’ winner was Dawn Tyson Hall, and ‘Best Under 16’ cake entry was won by Ruby Hallet. Each winner won a half day cookery school experience at luxury hotel, Chewton Glen.

Visitor Experience General Manager, Rosanna Dean said,

“It was brilliant to see so many people enter their cake creations and enjoy meeting Great British Bake Off Winner Syabira Yusoff before exploring the museum. What better way to celebrate the Museum’s 100th birthday than with cake!

“We are looking forward to continuing the birthday celebrations with our new ‘Tanks for the memories; Tanks in Popular Culture’ exhibition which opens 1st April.”

Centenary celebrations also include hosting an open-air concert featuring Bowie and Meat Loaf tributes, as well as covering 100 years of the tank in live displays during June’s TANKFEST event.
