South West Model Show

Set against a backdrop of incredible military armoured vehicles, the South West Model Show returns to The Tank Museum, 10-11 February 2024.

Modellers will be inspired to kick off their next modelling project with live workshops, demonstrations, and specialist stalls selling modelling kits and accessories.

Tom Holmes, Events Manager, says, “To support innovation in the modelling community, the Museum has launched our first model competition, with the brightest and best entries to be judged at the show.

“Entries are still open, and we are particularly looking for ship and 3D printed models to join in!”

Visitors will be able to pilot a model aircraft with the British Model Flying Association and construct a Cobi brick tank and see if it will withstand the terrain of a WWI battlefield. There is also the opportunity to build a tank with Models for Heroes and meet Doctor Who villains with the Dalek Charity Squad.

All shapes and scale of models will be displayed at the show, from aircraft, boats, remote-controlled models, quirky sci-fi builds, to intricate dioramas, and of course tanks! Workshops will explore techniques and tips on how to finesse model builds and there will specialist talks and demonstrations with expert modellers.

Visitors can also discover The Tank Museum’s ten interactive exhibitions, including Tanks in Popular Culture which explores how the tank has been portrayed through models, toys, and games.
