The Tank Museum Partners with Draper Tools

The Tank Museum is proud to announce a new partnership with Draper Tools.

Hampshire-based tool company Draper Tools are supporting the work of The Tank Museum by providing important tools to the Museum’s Workshop to help with the ongoing maintenance, and preservation of their unique collection, including the restoration of the unique King Tiger V2.

King Tiger V2 is the oldest surviving King Tiger and the only one with the pre-production turret. As it’s over 80-years-old, having the appropriate tools to restore it back to running condition are essential.

The new tools are already proving to be a hit with the Museum’s Workshop Team, after they used the Compact Induction Heater to remove long‑seized nuts and bolts without causing damage to the parts located around the nut, which is crucial to preserve as many original parts as possible.

With around 70 vehicles passing through The Tank Museum’s Workshop each year for servicing and maintenance, the team have also welcomed their new Bunker tool storage, which will be used by the Museum’s Workshop Apprentices to further support their training.

Tom Holmes, Partnerships and Events Development Manager, said: “We are delighted to announce our partnership with Draper Tools. Their support is incredibly important to keep our collection of vehicles in excellent condition and our running fleet operational for event days such as Tiger Day, TANKFEST and Tanks in Action. Partnerships like this make a real difference to the work carried out by the Workshop, and we are always pleased to hear from new sponsors who would like to support the Museum.”
