Lance Geiger

Lance Geiger has earned over 1.3 million subscribers Telling stories of forgotten history as YouTube’s The History Guy. His videos and podcasts cover topics ranging from aviation history to little known battles, historical figures and more from around the world.  In addition to his own channel, Mr Geiger has appeared on The Tank Museum’s YouTube channel with episodes of  Top 5 and Bottom 5 tanks, has been a featured speaker at the NASA Summer Series Colloquia and has appeared on The History Channel’s The UnXplained.

Mark Urban

Mark Urban is a writer and columnist for the Sunday Times, specialising in defence and foreign affairs. Until 2024, he was the Diplomatic Editor of BBC’s Newsnight programme. He formerly served in the British Army, both in the Royal Tank Regiment and in the Territorial Army. He is the author of several books, including Red Devils, Task Force Black (his deep-dive look at the SAS in the Iraq War, which was a Sunday Times number one bestseller) and The Skripal Files, a Sunday Times Best Politics Book of 2018.

Andrew May

Andrew is the author of ‘DD Sherman Tank Warriors’, which follows the compelling story of the 13th/18th Royal Hussars in WWII and their key role, spearheading the assault on Sword Beach on D-Day.  Andrew’s military family research stretches right back to the Boer War, but his latest project focuses on his grandfather’s service in Tunisia and Italy in WWII, along with the armour fighting in the Mediterranean theatre.

Sgt Anthony 'Chez' Cherrett headshot

Sergeant Anthony “Chez” Cherrett

Anthony Cherrett is a current-serving tank commander in the British Army, an amateur armoured historian, and a dedicated tank fanatic. With a deep passion for military history and armoured warfare, Anthony has combined professional experience with historical research to explore the evolution of tanks.
As the Project Lead and Researcher for Operation Mother, Anthony is spearheading the effort to locate and recover HMLS Centipede (“Mother”), the world’s first successful tank prototype, believed to be buried in Bovington. Through extensive research and fieldwork, Anthony is working to uncover a lost piece of history that shaped modern armoured warfare.

Matthew Whitchurch – Lt Col Royal Engineers 

Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Whitchurch is a proven trainer of trainers in battlefield studies. He is responsible for building studies where others could or would not go. He is devoted to helping anyone with applied military history. He writes for the RE Journal on current topics, including suggestions for the next Defence Review and deep breaching for future Ukrainian offensives.

Mike Nicholas

Mike works as an Educator here at the Tank Museum.
He is a military historian who specialises in the First and Second World Wars, as well as the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879.
He has presented talks here at the museum, as well as other esteemed organisations such as the National Army Museum, the British Modern Military History Society, the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institute, and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

Listen to local Primary School children singing wartime and modern songs including  “We’ll Meet Again, “Fight Song,” and “Proud.” The children will also be communicating the songs using Makaton sign language and performing poetry written and read by the children themselves.
