4,500 visitors flocked to The Tank Museum on Saturday 18 April 2026 for Tiger Day Spring, a Second World War-themed event centred around the world’s only running Tiger I tank.
Tiger 131 only runs twice a year at Tiger Day in April and September.
Visitors saw a battle re-enactment, bringing to life the moment Tiger 131 was captured on 24 April 1943 – almost 83 years ago to the day.
Other highlights included a live demonstration of the recovery of a Leopard 1 by a Bergepanzer and a World War Two tracked vehicle display.
Beyond the arena, visitors explored living history displays and got up close to the iconic armoured vehicles inside the Museum.

Tom Holmes, Events and Partnerships Manager, said: “Tiger 131 remains a global icon, fascinating crowds from all over the world and it continues to remain an important part of telling the story of tanks and the people who served in them. Tiger Day is the rare chance to see this formidable weapon in action and not one to be missed.”
Tickets are on sale now for Tiger Day Autumn on 26 September 2026.
